And it's only the 4th I installed it on. 1st 3 went fine.
#4 came up with an error in the post-install "Finishing" stage:
"migrate.exe - entry point not found, the Procedure entry point GETIUMS could not be located in the Dynamic link library MSDART.DLL."
Or words to that effect. The dialog merely has an "OK" button and there's no way to cancel out or backtrack.
This is a common problem with many programs, it seems.
I found some claimed fixes online - one is to copy the v2.8 MSDART.DLL from the \%systemroot%\servicepackfiles directory to \%systemroot%\system32. Made no difference.
Another suggestion was to download and install MDAC 2.8. Did this; made no difference.
So rebooted the PC. SP2 setup complained that it couldn't be terminated, then was.
On reboot, a message in the text-mode stage said that setup had been interrupted and that it would be rolled back. A line of dots appeared... then froze after about 30-40 dots. I left the PC for an hour or so; no change.
Rebooted - and now it won't even boot.
I have a full backup of all the data on it, but it looks like I might have to reinstall - and I've only just done that, less than a month ago, due to HD failure. [Sigh]
So, a warning. It might be worth installing MDAC 2.8 before trying to install XP SP2, at the very least.
Any comments or suggestions very welcome...
