On using titles on LJ

lprovenSome people may have noticed I've started asking people to use titles on their posts. There are some persistent offenders who almost never do. I'm looking at you, Sulston.
Another - hi, Andy - has asked me why.
Well, two reasons, one actual right now, and one potential.
I tend to read LJ in summary view. My FL looks like this.
If you don't put a title on your entry, firstly, I can't tell anything at all about what it is, and secondly, I've got nothing to click on if I do want to have a look.
More theoretically, just as soon as I can find how to extract my FL as an RSS feed, I plan to read LJ using an RSS browser - probably FireFox's RSS Reader extension but subsequently an offline one if I can find one I like.
The ONLY way to see an entry in an RSS feed is by its title. There's nothing else there.
So, if you want anyone reading LJ who isn't using a vanilla flat view in a plain ol' web browser to see your entries, put titles on them. Of course, if you don't want anyone to read your inane wibblings, don't bother!
