Norwegian St John's Wood
Dec. 6th, 2010 02:38 pmA moment of oddness.
A friend and client of mine lives very near the near-legendary Abbey Road studios in St John's Wood, and for many years, I've regularly visited there to sort various computer issues out for him and his family. The most recent time was just a week or so ago.
Meanwhile, chatting with a mate about '60s music - I've been listening to some Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd today - he sent me a link to some Beatles pics from around the time of the album that made the road, and the studios, famous. They're from the Norwegian Beatles fanclub, it seems.
The odd thing is this. I am not an obsessive Beatles fan, but I know the road quite well now, from many visits to the area. And every time I've walked/cycled/driven along it, I've been thinking, "this should be a big deal, I should know this view, I should know which building the studios actually are. It's famous, this place."
But apart from the album cover, I've never seen these pics before. So now, when I finally see the photos for the first time, I know the place and it's weirdly familiar to me...
