You think you've had a bad day?

In other words, it fell like a rock. A very fast-moving rock. Eeeeeeeesh. This kind of thing will do nothing to promote space tourism.
Me? The most excitement I've had tonight was driving up to Golders Green at 1:30am to replace a dead PC, which is currently reloading XP just across the room. I've always rather liked riding across London in the middle of the night; the roads are fairly dead, so you get lots of clear runs and the only holdups tend to be the odd traffic light. Like the broken one on a side-road into Oxford St. that held me on red from 3:53 to 4:03, when the black cab behind me started hooting me so I decided to run it.
Last week, it was down to Wimbledon Park to replace a network flylead. (Demanding stuff, these night-shifts. Give me a shout if you fancy trying it - I think they might be rather short-handed.) The thing is, Wimbledon Park is near where I live, so I know the way. Golders Green is up towards the Northern edge of London, an area I don't really know at all, so it was a bit more interesting. Last and only time I've been in a car around there was when I guided
ladytg into town in her mum's Rover with my new trike engine in the back. It's easier to find the centre of London than some random bit of the outskirts, I have to note.
But as a novice to this business of piloting a white van around the city, I think between 2 and 4am has got to be about the best time to do it...
