Checked out the Lowlander Café this evening and it really is - as [livejournal.com profile] surliminal said to me at the weekend - rather splendid. So, the Lowlander it is.

I've booked a table for 6pm in the name of Proven. It should be just inside the door on the left hand side, where there's a sort of alcove that I should have to myself. The place has a very impressive selection of Belgian and Netherlands beers and a decent food menu, too. It's not cheap but it's not exorbitant. There's a fair amount of wine, too, if that blasphemous ichor is your self-abuse method of choice.

Flash-driven utterly inaccessible website is here: http://www.lowlander.com/

If you can't abide Flash, I entirely understand. it's at 36 Drury Lane, Covent Garden, London WC2B 5RR. Telephone 020 7379 7446.

It's on Drury Lane, just near the corner with Long Acre. Go to Covent Garden Tube, turn left onto Long Acre, so that you're standing opposite Marks & Spencer's. Turn East, to your right - the opposite direction from Leicester Square - and you should be looking down the road toward the towering Freemasons' Hall. Walk down to the intersection with Drury Lane - it's only a few dozen metres. Turn left onto Drury Lane, facing broadly North, away from the river. The Lowlander is a few doors along on your left.

It's also a modest walk from Holborn, Leicester Square, Charing Cross and very close to Aldywch except that that one's no longer open. Find yer own way.

Please feel free to spread this around, cross-post it hither and yon or tell folk about it. All welcome. I've told them to expect a dozen or so people but lots more would be good! Just don't expect me to be terribly coherent by the end of the evening.
