To Do list
Nov. 13th, 2003 02:03 amThursday: Dinner! Crispy Duck Restaurant, 27 Wardour St., 7:30. Tell anyone you think I'd like to see there. Table booked under the name "Liam Proven". (Original, huh?)
Friday:
theladyeve arrives for impromptu visit! Hurrah! This means we may well appear at B Movie again. Our plan is to leave in time for the last Tube, 'cos she's knackered and needs to study, but the best laid plans of mice and men gang aft agley... Might even disappear off to Perversion given how much we enjoyed TG a couple of weeks ago. And my ban on visiting Sheffield appears to have been dropped *gasp*, so I may be off there myself toward the end of the month. *Bounce!*
Saturday onwards: we'll get to that when we come to it.
In recent events: just returned from Sam the Trike-builder WINOLJ's birthday drinkies. Pleasant to see
jhaelan and
savage_goth, the latter for the first time in AGES, both of whom are much less hairy than before. But not as much less as me. Looks good on both of them, but whereas Aaron looks about right in an 80s floppy-haired New Romantic kind of way, James appears to be about 15. Also
mr_prickle who looks just about as hirsute as ever.
Last weekend, Novacon. Was fun. Put up
molesworth for the night on Monday, who was good company, coping with aplomb with suddenly finding that he was attending my Mum's birthday dinner.
Came home to discover package from Amazon, containing Quicksilver by Neal Stephenson! W00t! Rar! Hurray! (&c ad libitum.) It's from a Susan, somewhere in North America. Now this could be one of two people, both of whom I'd have rated unlikely, but on balance, I'm guessing it's a certain
scarlatti? A thousand thanks for this very kind and generous gift! I am approaching a hundred pages in, i.e., I've barely begun, and there's no sight or sign of a plot yet, but I'm enjoying it hugely.
As soon as I'd put Nic on the Tube, it was off to the dentist. She injected me (oowwwwww) and picked and scraped at my teeth, then started prodding at the shattered tooth. It hurt. She injected me some more, waited, and did it again. Still hurt. Injected me some MORE, started pulling. It hurt a LOT. I writhed and moaned. She, in essence, called me a wretched coward and referred me to another clinic for it to be done "under sedation". Oh joy. All this for nothing, it hurt like a bugger all day, and I not only had to pay £34, I have to go through this again at a cost of £100+.
No wonder I sodding HATE dentists.
Con writeup at some point but I'm only just about done with the one for RanCon and my Sweden trip, which seems to have grown to over 5,000 words. Does contain fun bits, though. Hopefully no-one will sue. Watch this space! Then comes TCASU, which I gather is eagerly anticipated in some quarters and may contain fascinating revelations, but then again might not - THEN Novacon. So it'll be done around Picocon, then.
[EDIT: 'cos I forgot stuff. It's late and I've been drinking martinis.]
