May Day Carol
May. 1st, 2006 07:55 am1.
Awake, awake
Lift up your eyes
And pray to god for grace
Repent, repent for your former sins
While ye have time and space
2.
I have been wondering all this night
And the best part of the day
So now I have come
For to sing you a song
And to bring you a branch of May
3.
A branch of May I have brought you
And at your door it stands
It's nowt but a sprout
But it's well budded out
By the work of the lord's own hands
4.
Man is but a man
His life short in span
He is but like a flower
Soon he is withered and gone
And nowt is left of his hour
5.
So now I have sung you a short little song
And can no longer stay
Gods bless you all
Both great and small
And I wish you a merry merry May
Awake, awake
Lift up your eyes
And pray to god for grace
Repent, repent for your former sins
While ye have time and space
