Bona Drama, it's called.

"Hello! Is there anybody there?"

And there was. There was aging juvenile [livejournal.com profile] mmcpoland along with [livejournal.com profile] drpete, [livejournal.com profile] spride, [livejournal.com profile] chorleycakes and [livejournal.com profile] ajshepherd. Alas, there was not [livejournal.com profile] mr_flay nor [livejournal.com profile] andyravensable, but I might yet do a second visit. As it was, I got the last 6 available Ticketmaster Premiere seats.

The show is impeccably done. The actors all bear at least a passing resemblance to the actors they are portraying and, both from their performances and chatting to them afterwards (complete with free sarnies and drinkie, thanks to Ticketmaster) they're enjoying the show. I think ours was a good night - certainly at some points my face hurt from laughing so much and others were not far behind. In a fortnight or so, an entirely new cast will take over for two weeks before taking the show on a national tour. In their place, the original team will take over again. Its original season of 6 months has already lasted over 250 performances, and shortly before Yule, there'll be a Christmas Special on for the festive season, with new material and also some drawn from Beyond Our Ken and other BBC Radio comedies of the same period. Then next year, they're planning Round the Horne, Revisited... 2!

Meantime, though, all you little hommes and polones, here's something to keep you occupied. I give you the Bona Book itself, in the original polari.
In the beginning Gloria created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was nanti form, and void; and munge was upon the eke of the deep. And the nanti lucoddy of Gloria trolled upon the eke of the aquas.
And Gloria cackled, Let there be sparkle: and there was sparkle.
And Gloria vardad the sparkle, that it was bona: and Gloria medzered the sparkle from the munge.
And Gloria screeched the sparkle Day, and the munge he screeched nochy. And the bijou nochy and the morning were the una day.
And Gloria cackled, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the aquas, and let it medzer the aquas from the aquas.
And Gloria made the firmament, and medzered the aquas which were under the firmament from the aquas which were above the firmament: and it was so.
And Gloria screeched the firmament Heaven. And the bijou nochy and the morning were the dewey day.
And Gloria cackled, Let the aquas under the heaven be laued together unto oney place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
And Gloria screeched the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the aquas screeched he Seas: and Gloria vardad that it was bona.
