Sheesh. What a week. Dying servers, critical must-be-done-right-now upgrades, and me half dead of a chest infection. Fun fun fun.

Monday, Write write write write, then, Blondie at the Hammersmith Odeon, as it still is to me. Patchy, but fun. Too many album tracks. No one cares any more, guys, we want the singles. And they mucked around with them. E.g., screaming thrash guitars in The Tide is High...?

And there's something rather sad about a plump 50-something white woman marching round a stage, rapping. Badly. But by the gods, she's every right to. She gave the world the form, damn near, or was at least the first to do so. And I still love the song.

Good gig, all in, though a bit of a curate's egg. Best sound quality I have EVER heard at a gig: truly wonderful. Crisp instruments, if patchily played in the case of Stein, clear vocals, perfect balance, good volume and power, tho' standing right at the back of the upper circle of an utterly packed big venue. Must have been, ooh, 3000, 4000 people. Up to five of them under 25 years old.

Then a quick curry with Howard, WINOLJ, washed down with water. Eeuw. You know what fish DO in that stuff? Missed last Northern Line. Discovered convenient new (to me) night bus, N44, which goes past the end of my road, 5mins' stagger away instead of the one that follows the Tube to Colliers Wood, 15min brisk walk away. Wish I had known this since 2001. Got home, continued writing til 5:30am.

Tuesday, up early, worked onsite 'til midnight. Made last Tubes, just.

Wednesday, up early. Onsite til about 7:30. Then ZZ9. With water. Long chat with [livejournal.com profile] dougs, short ones with everyone else. Sorry, all.

Thursday, onsite at 9am, on to 2nd job at 3, work til 8, catch end of Skeptics. Fun. Drank water. Bleah.

Which means it's Friday, which means it's the New York Dolls at the Royal Festival Hall! Yay!

Snag: I still have a spare ticket. I think it was £20. Anyone want to grab an exclusive, only-time-in-twenty-years chance to see this seminal punk band?
