[Geek] Wish me luck, I'm going in
May. 13th, 2004 11:52 pmBloody Windows bloody XP bloody Gates bloody bloody bloody.
I ran out of space on my WinXP system drive today. Removing an adjacent partition used by a version of Windows I no longer use on this machine - 2K Server - has sodding triggered bloody XP's bloody Windows Product Activation mechanism and it won't sodding boot. It's not even a WPA-protected copy, it's a MOLP install. Bastard bloody Microsoft. Don't trust their own sodding users.
Six hours of effort later, all my data is accessible on FAT32 volumes and I have a working install of W2K Pro for emergencies.
But given that I was evaluating the shiny-new SuSE Linux Professional 9.1 anyway, that's it. I've moved all my email and so forth over to the Linux partition and I'm going to try giving up Windows for a while. I'm pissed off with it. SuSE is faster and looks better anyway, and although I don't like KDE much, I can use it.
Gah.
