Sweden redux
Apr. 22nd, 2004 02:44 pmSeen in Mitcham this morning - yes, morning - a giant Norbert Dentressangle artic and double-decker bus honking and shoving for right of way. Two big red things fighting ineffectually for primacy and status. Bit like the British parliament, really.
Bit of politics there, my name's Liam Proven, goodnight.
In other news, just finished an utterly wonderful book covering such matters amongst other things: Raw Spirit by Iain Banks. It's roughly as much about whisky as Robert Pirsig's seminal Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is about bikes. Go read it. Possibly the closest thing to an autobiography we'll get out of Banksie.
A wonderful (if very belated) Yule gift from the lovely
theladyeve, who herself brought me a great deal of joy in a period of my life which was otherwise notably devoid of it. Thank-you, darling.
Am also much pleased to note that my inaugural recommendation in
read_rant_rave just won the Nebula. Go get The Speed of Dark by Elizabeth Moon, too.
Right. I'm trying again. Off to lovely Stansted now - see joyous accounts passim - for a quick weekend in Stockholm, to stay with
suaveswede and, I hope, see
khnark and
mrhedgehog and maybe
thette & KJ and anyone else who fancies coming out. I am carrying an inordinate amount of alcohol for various people, if this is any incentive.
