It's that time again
Nov. 19th, 2003 12:08 pmIt's Skeptics in the Pub tomorrow!
As Nick Pullar says in his email:
Hi all
Yes! It's that time again.
Skeptics in the Pub is on Thursday.
Our guest is Montague Keen, who is a believer who has had a bit of a ding-dong with James Randi over Randi's appearance on a TV show here this year. Go to Randi's site and do a search for "keen".
Randi links to the sites he criticises, but if you want to go straight to the other side of the story, you can check out http://www.victorzammit.com where in the section entitled "Articles" under such entries as "Hell Does Exist!" and "The Seven Laws of Psychic Energy" you will find the original article by Keen which set Randi off (at the bottom of the page).
Good fun all round.
So, I think we will enjoy Montague Keen's presentation on Thursday.
I hope you remember the web site, which has all the info on getting there and so on.
It just remains for me to remind you that we start at 7:30pm, and if you're quick beforehand, we serve sandwiches and chips, since food is always very popular with the skeptical crowd! They like something tangible they can hold and put in their mouths!
All this for a requested donation of £2.00. A Thursday evening couldn't get much better!
See you on Thursday
In other news... B Movie was enjoyable (if brief for us) with
theladyeve on Friday. The rest of the weekend, we stayed in, driven by penury, except for a brief trip to the Sultan ("probably South London's finest real ale pub", as
reverendjim said to me when I moved in to my house) and the local Indian restaurant on Friday night. She said she couldn't hold her beer - and she was right. :¬)
Monday evening I introduced
lostcarpark and
madangie to the Priory Arms at Stockwell, South London's other great real ale pub, assisted by
drpete. And last night, took 'em drinking in the Angel, along with
sneerpout and
mr_tom and
doja35. Where were the rest of you? No-one heed
alexmc's announcement in
anonymousclaire?
