... in pledges if I go bald. Or don't. Put together. Rar! [livejournal.com profile] gummitch, how much have you got so far?

In other news...

Last weekend was good. Met my mate John for a (cough) very late liquid lunch at about 5:30, then the elusive [livejournal.com profile] green_amber for a drinkie in Islington, along with [livejournal.com profile] rozk, [livejournal.com profile] flickgc, [livejournal.com profile] doja35, [livejournal.com profile] sneerpout and [livejournal.com profile] mr_tom. Then Flick, Roja and I headed down to the Liquid Lab for [livejournal.com profile] tamaranth's 1st birthday drinkie, along with... oh, lots of people.

Saturday I unaccountably felt a little under the weather and couldn't face travelling to Northampton for NewCon; apologies to [livejournal.com profile] camies and anyone else I missed. I did make it, eventually, to [livejournal.com profile] daemongirl's 16th birthday party, though, putting faces to several names - [livejournal.com profile] whotheheckami, [livejournal.com profile] the_mendicant, [livejournal.com profile] gardenpixie, [livejournal.com profile] nardobd, [livejournal.com profile] the_a_r_b and more. More familiar ones included [livejournal.com profile] dougs, [livejournal.com profile] squaddie, [livejournal.com profile] hawkida and [livejournal.com profile] tobesv. I was, as ever, fasionably late.

Sunday dawned horribly bright and early - thanks, Rachel - and I failed to fix Mel's home network, then leapt on the trike for a zip up to Sheffield to see [livejournal.com profile] theladyeve. A lovely start to the trip - a bright, cold autumn afternoon hurtling across the wolds of Rutland up towards Nottingham. It got a lot more tedious after that, though. Made it to Shef for about 3:30pm, to Nadin's annoyance, and promptly got lost, so went to Hein Gericke's and bought lots of nice warm gloves and things while she came and rescued me. This was followed by a protracted search for a pub and lunch with some true-born ought-to-be-members-of [livejournal.com profile] sketchygothbird.

Then back to N's to dump my stuff, a curry and a pint. Wonderful place. I thought the barman had undercharged me, it was so cheap. And actual little stone houses on cobbled streets in Crookes! So cute!

Monday I had a lie-in before setting off on the road for home. But as soon as I left Yorkshire and entered Derbyshire's Peak District, the trike's slight rattle became a horrible and expensive noise like someone shaking a tin bucket full of nuts. Oil OK, chain not too slack, so I have no clue what's wrong, but I'll bet it's going to be expensive... And it took the AA over 8h to get me home. [Sigh] Ah well. I may not be off to TCASU on the trike after all, I fear...

And in about 3h N will be here! Hurrah!
