I've missed the sodding boat.
I went to collect the trike at 2pm, but it wasn't ready - the diff was misaligned. It took 'til nearly 3:30pm to resolve this.
Then I NAILED it down the A3, played 80-90mph traffic slalom around the M25, down the A12 - and hit a massive, 10mi+ tailback due to 3-4mi of roadworks. Not a damn thing I could do, though to the disgust of a chap on a solo ZZR1100 I did manage to filter my way through about a quarter of it. Screamed down the A120 into Harwich but the boat had gone 20min earlier.
So I've done 7+h and 250mi on the trike today, and my £270 boat ticket is wasted. This after spending THREE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY BLOODY POUNDS on having the new sprocket (which was £40 + £15 for a diff cover) fitted. And they didn't have time to fit a Scottoiler. Apparently, they've had to fabricate tools to disassemble the rear end, drill holes in their press to fit them to pull my diff apart, and even the local gearbox specialist was at a loss and couldn't help. If he'd had a gun, said the boss of the bike shop, he'd have used it. Not on me - on himself, so he never has to do this again.
I knew I'd make an expensive mistake but I didn't think it was that expensive. It's cost me nigh-on a thousand fucking pounds now. £270 boat ticket, £130 plane ticket for tomorrow instead, £435 on new chain and sprockets and 3 tanksful of petrol on a completely wasted journey today.
Stockholm had better be good. I could be in sodding Barbados for this kind of money, and I don't have enough for this month's mortgage payment as it is...
