Yesterday was... unpleasant. A deadline and emotional grief from Saturday night. (More in a FO post later, maybe.)

So at 11:30pm I decided to go work off some stress and go for a run.

I've got a pair of proper shoes now - an £85 pair of Dasics from Run&Become with lots of heel padding and ankle support. Apparently, my knackered leg pronates badly - in other words, the leg doesn't come down straight onto the foot, the ankle sags outwards, placing my weight on the inner edge of my foot. This is a Bad Thing, apparently. I never knew, but I've noticed that some cheap shoes fail that way.

These shoes compensate somewhat but I need an orthopædic support in the shoes to correct it fully. More money! And I though running would be cheap!

Bosh.

Ohhhh, no.

Anyway. These shoes work, though. I did a quarter of a lap of the park to warm up, then stopped and stretched - doing the stretches from fencing class that focus on the legs as I know nothing else. Then I did four more laps of the park, a 5min sit and cool down, another half lap to warm down, more stretches and home. I was out about 40min. So, longer and further than last time. Followed by a hot bath and a couple of beers, as I felt I needed them.

Got achey hamstrings today and twinges in the hip, no more. Tomorrow will tell, I think.

I'm beginning to think I can do this.
