As in, the ongoing saga of [livejournal.com profile] liam_on_linux.

I had [livejournal.com profile] dougs around yesterday to assist in doing some research. (He stayed on after the Ton on Thursday night. To which, once again due to him, I was early. Remarkable.)

Alas, when we got back, I broke out the whisky - at least, the little bit that ScroteBoy™ left me - and Mr Spencer was soon far too incapacitated to be of much assistance. He did introduce me to some quite remarkable new uses for peanut butter, though, which was... interesting. Rather broadened my mind, that did. Regrettably he had to head up town on Friday afternoon to go to a party wearing an apron, or something, so we didn't get as far as we'd hoped. Not even close to all the way. And I just can't do it on my own. :-(

Anyway, this has led to me asking myself some important questions, so if you feel inclined that way, head on over to The Other LJ...

Opinions on IDE/ATA RAID controllers sought! Readers here who don't read Liam-on-Linux might have missed this...

Introduction to the question here and a little bit of discussion here.
