Small world syndrome
Jul. 19th, 2004 09:14 pmCoo. Just been reading
boingboing_net and read that Cory's recently been to Brighton and visited Riki Tik. Interesting to know it's still going strong.
I designed, built and installed (with some project-management help from Imagineering) the original Internet facilities there, quite a few years ago now. A complete working de-riggable two-machine secure and largely vandal-proof Web connection for a total hardware & software budget of under £1,500. I was rather proud of it. Also the first Linux machines I put in at a client site: two laptops with Caldera OpenLinux, with custom kernel to get sound working, and Netscape 4.
Had to let the parent company go as a client of mine in the end, on the basis that I quite like being paid for my work...
