I had a tentative invite to go to the pub and dinner in the
West End, or, alternatively, stay home and sort out the PCs
of my mate Andy and Camilla the Cute Homeopath.
But at 18:20 all the lights went out. That kinda killed any
plans of PC fettling - or rather, was a damned good excuse,
anyway - so I walked to Collier's Wood in the rain, to find
No Tubes.
#219 bus to Clapham Junction: 1h.
Train to Victoria: 20min (albeit it was ½h late.)
#73 bus from Victoria to Euston: you're 'avin a larf, mate.
#8 bus from Victoria to Tottenham Court Road - well, I just
managed to squeeze onto the 6th one to arrive.
Time to Oxford Street: 40min.
Time to traverse Oxford Street from Bond St tube to by John
Lewis: 20min. Abandoned Nemi and Metro and walked to Euston
in a brisk 20min or so.
Total travel cost: £5.20 for THREE HOURS.
But the beer was pleasant, as was the food and the company.
Sole LJ presence (aside from a syndicated feed from Jupiter
Research's Ian Fogg, which doesn't count, really) is a chap
I keep finding in all sorts of contexts:
mstevens.
And despite the warnings of its closure, the tube got me to
Colliers Wood with no major problems.
So. 4h travelling for 2h company. Hmmm...
